Our recent family adventure to the snow-covered wonderland of Perisher was nothing short of magical. With 10 nights to fully immerse ourselves in the winter activities, we set up base in the charming town of Jindabyne, staying in a cosy Airbnb that offered the perfect blend of comfort and convenience.
The Snowboarding Experience
Perisher, known for its vast terrain and pristine snow, provided us with endless opportunities for snowboarding. With slopes suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced riders, our family spent each day carving through the powder, building confidence and creating memories that will last a lifetime. The kids especially loved the dedicated beginner areas, while Ryan and I enjoyed the more challenging runs. The sheer beauty of the alpine scenery, combined with the thrill of snowboarding, made every moment on the slopes exhilarating.
Our Home Away from Home: Airbnb in Jindabyne
Staying in Jindabyne was an excellent choice, giving us easy access to the Perisher ski fields while also allowing us to experience the local town’s charm. Our Airbnb was a cozy retreat, with all the amenities we needed to relax after long days on the slopes.
Dining Delights in Jindabyne
Jindabyne is not just a gateway to the snow; it’s also a food lover’s haven, if you choose the right places. We dined at several restaurants during our stay, but a few stood out as absolute favourites.
One of the highlights was Cocina Taqueria, where we indulged in what I can confidently say are the best coconut margarita cocktails I have ever tasted. The blend of creamy coconut with the perfect hint of lime was refreshing and delightful—a must-try for anyone visiting the area.
Another favourite was Jindabyne Emporium, a charming spot that offered a variety of delicious dishes. The cosy ambience and lake view, paired with hearty meals, made it a perfect place to unwind after a day on the slopes.
We also loved Moose’s Tap House, where we enjoyed a great selection of craft beers and tasty pub fare. The lively atmosphere and friendly service made it a hit with the whole family.
Exploring Jindabyne
When we weren’t on the slopes, we took time to explore the town of Jindabyne. One of our favourite activities was strolling along the shores of Lake Jindabyne. The serene beauty of the lake, with its icy blue waters and surrounding snow-covered hills, offered a peaceful contrast to the excitement of snowboarding.
We also indulged in some toy shopping for the kids, who were thrilled to pick out new games and souvenirs to bring home. Wandering around the town, with its quaint shops and friendly locals, added an extra layer of enjoyment to our trip.
Final Thoughts
Our 10-night stay in Jindabyne, with its perfect mix of snowboarding, delicious dining, and local exploration, was everything we could have hoped for in a family holiday. The snow-covered slopes of Perisher provided endless fun and adventure, while the warm, welcoming atmosphere of Jindabyne made us feel right at home. Whether you’re a seasoned snowboarder or just looking for a winter getaway, this region has something for everyone. We can’t wait to return and create even more snowy memories.
Enjoy!
